The anatomy of responsive images – JakeArchibald.com

Responsive Images have been a topic I’ve been keeping track of for a while. I tend to share the same sentiment of Dave Rupert that he expressed in his 2013 article Ughck. Images.

From the picture element, to srcset, to art direction, to polyfils, to bandwidth limitations, its a problem with many symptoms and remedies.

Jake’s article does a good job of explain everything well and with images that illustrate the point.

If you’re using WordPress, consider using the RICG Responsive Images plugin. It’s backed by the Responsive Images working group.
